Maxwell is considered by some to be the greatest English technical writer of the 19th Century. This is a basic introduction to physics by him that is as essential to an understanding of the roots of modern physics. Very little in this exposition changes for experiments at the scales possible in the 1800s. Maxwell's Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism is arguably the most important work of the millineum in changing our pattern of life. This introductory work sets a stage on which this great actor plays.
